How to Connect With People
1st option:
Simply add as friend. (with a personal message to increase the likelihood of them accepting).

2nd option:
Send them a message and ask them to add you as friend.
We suggest to do a combination of both.  Why?  Because if you are just adding people as friends, Facebook won’t like that and can freeze your account.

Sample message:
“Hey Lisa, my name is  Janie and I really like your website/page.  (If you can share specifically what you like about their website or what they posted on their wall, let them know!)

Be yourself,  be authentic. ALWAYS  personalize it!
We haven’t noticed that Facebook keeps track of ratios of ‘SENDING MESSAGES” TO PEOPLE. Keep in mind that Facebook Rules are always changing so read their rules.

Your goal is to connect with 10 people a day.

Soon you will see that you will get friends request.

4.   Commit To Growing Your Network Link, find friends, and start building your following. It’s not enough to have a presence on a social networking site. You must connect and on most sites that means inviting friends to connect with you and following others.

5.  Update Frequently
(NO MORE THAN 20 MINUTES A DAY)Like any other marketing tool, in order for it to be effective, it’s important to update and participate regularly.  Part of building a community is being involved in it.  If you’re gone for any length of time, people easily forget about you – sad but true.   jump on the forum to get ideas what to share!

6.  Remember The 90/10 Rule
Marketing yourself 24/7 is tiresome and a turnoff.  Social networking is about providing value, not a sales pitch.

Keep the old 90/10 rule in mind when networking - 90% information / communication
and 10% marketing

Don't forget
Creating a Facebook fan page is simple, but getting it to work well takes time, dedication, and some planning.

Don’t expect to create a page and then have a huge following instantaneously. Share some great articles, make it easy to share, and let people know about it, and over-time the community will grow.

Things To Avoid On Your Facebook Fan Page
Taking good care of your Facebook fans is very important when it comes to promoting and marketing your business. There are things to avoid on your Facebook fan page which could cause your fans to unlike you very quickly, which is bad for business. Follow these few tips on how to take care of your Facebook Fan Page & keep your fans not liking but in fact, love your business. Make a mistake on your Facebook fan page, and your fans might just run away!.

The first thing to avoid on your Facebook fan page is spamming.
There is a fine line between promoting what you want to promote and annoying everyone with repetition of links as well as self praising. The best way to promote to your customers is by giving them good quality information for free, which would slightly tease & excite them and make them enquire for more. Since everyone who likes your page would be able to see your posts, you don’t want to clog their news feed with your advertisements and links. It will simple annoy them away.

Do not mix anything personal, or related to other businesses of yours at your Facebook fan page.
Posting personal status updates are considered unprofessional, and when you start advertising other businesses, products, or any other project you are working on, it would send mixed signals and lead to confusion for your viewers. They would then see it as spam, and chances are when this happens, they would simply unlike your page and leave.

One of the most important things to avoid on your Facebook Fan Page is to speak highly about yourself, your product, or your business.
Instead of talking about how good your business is, you should encourage your fans to post their experiences with you, and share their thoughts. These became instant testimonials, which are much more reliable & valuable for both yourself & for other potential customers.

Now that you have read this simple guide, you now are aware of the things to avoid on your Facebook fan page, be sure that you don’t make any one of these mistakes!.
